For many years at Guru Labs putty has been widely used by the staff as a source of inspiration and creativity. When courseware development sessions are in full force, putty is rarely out of sight.

We decided in late 2004 to start including tins of "Guru Labs Enlightenment Putty" with each student kit. We ordered 200lbs of blue (pantone 288) putty, and a large supply of tins.

Below you will find putty creations from both staff and students.

We hope you enjoy the gallery, and come take a class to get your own supply of "Guru Labs Enlightenment Putty".

Close Encounters of the Putty Kind

I'm not really sure how to describe Scott Edwards' creation. All memory of the experience has been erased. On an unrelated note, I've recently discovered the joys of mashed potato sculpture.

Putty Tux

Peter McNabb, brother of former guru Evan McNabb, won a free class during Utah Open Source Conference 2007. He decided to take the GL275 this week. It didn't take him long to find a good use for our famous Guru Putty:

Putty Reproduction

Today John Barkhurst contacted me to claim credit for his putty interpretation of The Scream. He's obviously enjoying his putty because he also included a photographic answer to that age old mystery: "Where does putty come from?"

Putty Scream

A few weeks ago in Portland, one of my students created a putty version of The Scream. Unfortunately, the lighting and my camera leave a lot to be desired. I've forgotten the creator's name, but it's still a neat idea.

Updated 9 Aug 2007: John Barkhurst wrote today to claim credit for this image and answer an age old question: "Where does putty come from?"

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...

This week was a GL120. Scott Fuhriman first tried a simple object:

Then he created one that was a bit more complicated. A dog.

He even took it one step further and created Humpty Dumpty:

Well, you know what happened to Humpty Dumpty...

Putty Work From A Far

Sometimes we get requests to ship Putty to people outside of Utah. Here is the work of David Thurman out of Nebraska. Nice Pacman and Smurf:

Boats, Geckos and Shapes, What Fun!

This week was a GL250, the students enjoyed the class and the putty too. Here's a couple good examples:

Eva built a gecko and a nice sailboat, very creative.

Play Guitar, Build Snowmen or Go Fishing

This week was a very entertaining week. With only two students, we had plenty of time to play with the Enlightenment Putty during class. Here are some cool pictures of the creations by Adam Wisden.

The next day, he created a rastafarian snowman from the same putty:

My other student this week, Stacy Robinson, was a bit less creative...
